Acoustic Details

Nearly every project that includes architectural acoustics has its own set of unique design elements. But we use a whole host of “standard” acoustic principles and finishes. It’s a common request to see the typical details we use. And while those details are usually copied/pasted/edited between different drawings and applications, they seldom translate well into something sharable.

I’m changing that, and introducing a new project specifically to share these common details and concepts in an easily digestible format. The goal is for this to be useful both for DIY builders and other designers. I’ve dropped the first two details (the standard fabric-wrapped-panel, and a moveable gobo) on my Ko-fi site to download the hi-res PDFs. I love using commercial products, too. I’m an affiliate for GIK Acoustics and often specify their products and finishes for projects that can benefit from a factory-ready delivery. Other times, the design needs to be adjusted for a specific circumstance, or the budget isn’t there to purchase a whole room’s worth of treatment and we need to find other solutions. That’s where this new set of details will help out.

I’m available to consult on projects requiring room acoustics or noise isolation. Or send me a note if you have a specific DIY detail you’d like me to prepare next!
