Sustainably,
acoustically, and
with imagination.

Acoustics and Performing Arts
Acoustics are important at every level of architecture. They help a teachers to be heard and understood, they let you experience a piece of art, and they keep unwanted noise out of important spaces. Trilobite Design’s experience in architectural acoustics spans the breadth of traditional performing arts – performing arts centers, concert halls, theaters, music venues, recording studios, and screening rooms.
Don’t underestimate the importance of the way a room sounds in other spaces, too. Home improvements, restaurants, bars, and retail design. How an environment sounds is an important element in how a building is experienced.
Sustainable Design
Passive House, LEED, and Pretty Good House goals are typical in every building we work on. At the beginning of a project, we discuss and define the sustainability goals and what you want to achieve. Certifications are not always important – it’s the function, savings, and benefits that we care about – but are happy to help you aim for any level of official certification, also.
Energy efficiency is not only an important environmental goal, it also directly impacts everyone’s daily life. Owning a building, or living and working in the built environment can be more comfortable and more affordable if the facility is designed to use less energy. Each new construction project and renovation is an opportunity to add a host of benefits.
Costs substantially less to own, operate, and maintain
Use fewer environmental resources
Increase your personal comfort inside the building
Improve your health with better indoor air quality
From Vision to Reality: The Trilobite Process
Commissioning a custom home is one of life’s most significant journeys. As your full-service architectural partner, our role is to provide a clear, structured, and enjoyable path from your initial ideas to the day you walk through your front door. Our comprehensive process ensures a seamless experience and an exceptional outcome.
Phase 1: Discovery and Feasibility
Our journey begins with listening. We dive deep into your vision, lifestyle, and aspirations for your new home. We analyze your site, discuss budgetary goals, and establish the foundational program that will guide the entire project. This phase ensures your project starts on a solid footing.
Phase 2: Schematic Design
Here, your vision begins to take shape. We explore broad concepts through sketches, diagrams, and 3D modeling, focusing on the home’s flow, form, and relationship to the site. We work collaboratively to refine the design that best captures the essence of your dream home.
Phase 3: Design Development & Refinement
We translate the approved concept into a detailed architectural plan. This is where we specify key materials, window and door systems, and begin integrating structural and mechanical systems. We utilize advanced energy modeling to validate the home’s performance, ensuring our energy-efficient custom home meets our rigorous standards.
Phase 4: Construction Documents
This is the most technical phase, where we produce a comprehensive set of drawings and specifications. This detailed blueprint allows for accurate bidding and provides the builder with the exact information needed to construct your home to our precise standards.
Phase 5: Builder Selection & Bidding
Leveraging our network of elite Cincinnati custom home builders, we assist you in selecting the perfect partner for your project. We manage the bidding process to ensure competitive and comprehensive pricing.
Phase 6: Construction Administration
We act as your expert advocate throughout the construction process. We make regular site visits, answer questions from the builder, review progress, and ensure the final product is built with the highest level of quality and is true to the design intent.
